Friday Favorites!!!

Whew! I've had such a busy week, this week really has flew by!

I've come to the conclusion that I'm way too busy. I miss crafting. I'm working on sewing curtains and I've gotten one curtain done in months. One. And I have a "I want to make this" list that goes on for miles! Ahhhh! Something has got to give!

And we have had like 2454365431 days straight of rain. I have green stuff growing on my back deck! I want warm and sunny, not cold and rainy. I don't mind rain, but come on!

Ok, so now that my rant is over....let's check out some projects :)

First check out THESE Polaroid Magnets from Ambrosia Girl!

She gives a free download for the template to turn your photo's into Polaroids too! These are so cute!

Next up check out THESE Front Porch Picture Frames from The Husailey Bunch!

Simple and beautiful! I love the thought of bringing photo's outdoors too! I've never really decorated my front porch, I've always just planted flowers and that was it, but I have saw alot of great ways to decorate your porch, so I think I'm going to try to do a little more out there this year!

And lastly, after my little rant about not being able to find cute boy clothes (if you really want to hear me complain some more click HERE) Dani from My Little Apricot reminded of a great site for some great boy sewing tutorials! I had already been a follower, but totally forgot about their being tons of boy tutorials there! Check out Made!!

They have a special month where everything they post is dedicated to Boys!

Click on that button to check it and and then click on the boy archives to see tons and tons of boy inspired tutorials!

THESE Bert and Ernie shirts are one my favorite tutorials she has posted!

So there we have it, three more things for my "I want to make this" list!

Hope everyone has a great weekend...and I just want to say that whoever is doing the rain dance can sit their butt down now....thanks!

Tropical Traditions Coconut Hair Treatment Review & Giveaway!!!

Winner: Comment #10 Kellyr78

I'm pretty picky with what I use on my hair. I've never dyed it and I've never used a hair treatment either. The worst that I've done to my hair is get a perm and I've used Sun In on it. When I was trying to pick out what I wanted to review from Tropical Traditions for this review I decided I was going to try something different and try out their Coconut Hair Treatment.

Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil for Hair Treatment is specially made for hair application. It has a slightly higher amount of protein than our other coconut oils, due to the presence of coconut solids. This Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is a truly unrefined coconut oil. This coconut oil is made on Mt. Banahaw and surrounding areas from organic coconuts. Coconuts are used fresh (within 24-48 hours of harvest) from small family farms on Mt. Banahaw and other rural places in Quezon Province, the coconut capital of the Philippines. Only the highest quality coconuts are hand-picked from each harvest. The volcanic soil of Mt. Banahaw makes these organic coconuts some of the most nutritionally rich coconuts in the world! Testing done in independent laboratories reveals higher levels of phenolic antioxidants than other coconut oils. The fresh coconut meat is shredded (wet milled), and then cold-pressed using the water from inside the coconuts to make coconut milk. The milk is then allowed to sit for about half a day, while the oil naturally separates from the heavier water. The oil is then filtered from the curds (coconut solids). No chemical or high-heat treatment is used, and this oil contains no trans fatty acids. We do NOT mass produce this oil. It is made by families who are coconut farmers using old-fashioned traditional methods that have been used in the Philippines for hundreds of years. Our coconut trees and family producers are certified organic according to strict USDA standards. The families who produce the oil are also trained according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards and re-certified each year. This high-grade Virgin Coconut Oil has a long shelf life due to the high antioxidant properties. The Gold Label standard is our highest standard for Virgin Coconut Oil.

My Thoughts
I have to admit that I was afraid to try this out. As I said before, I've never used a hair treatment before. I've always been to afraid to try any because my scalp is a little on the oily side and I didn't want to make that worse. When I tried out the coconut hair treatment, I decided that I was going to use it as a pre-wash treatment. I applied this just onto the ends of my hair where it was dry. I got in the shower and shampooed as normal. After my hair dried, it was noticeably softer and had a great shine! I also used this as a conditioner, which it worked great! Of course, it's great knowing I'm not using chemicals and it has that great coconut scent!!

Tropical Traditions wants to give one of my readers their own Coconut Hair Treatment!

ShirtsThatGo~Cute Shirts For Boys!!!

I expressed my aggravation on here before about finding cute clothes for boys. After searching the internet looking for cute clothes for Luke, I stumbled across ShirtsThatGo and was excited when they agreed to let us review one of their t-shirts!

ShirtsThatGo was created 2 short years ago to make available to parents a great line of t-shirts that appeal to kids that love vehicles. The line currently has 15 designs, with plans to add new designs on a regular basis. Our t-shirt line is an attempt to capture amazing vehicles in motion with as much realism as possible. The idea is that the vehicles displayed on our t-shirts are similar to what the kids are seeing in the real world. The images capture them in motion, larger than life. These are vehicles that amaze and inspire our children. Some of us grown ups are pretty impressed too!

I love all the designs that ShirtsThatGo offers! One of my favorites is the Ice Cream Truck T-Shirt! Look how cute and colorful this is!!! Perfect for summer!

And they also offer full color gift boxes if your purchasing a T-Shirt as a gift!

We received the Red Firetruck T-Shirt for review!

These kids fire truck shirts showcase the classic small town ladder truck that the toddlers and kids love. Every detail is captured with care just for the fire truck enthusiast in your family.

My Thoughts
The first thing I noticed when I opened up the package was this wasn't just your run of the mill iron on image. The image is printed right onto the shirt which really sets the image off and makes it more comfortable to wear without having the stiff iron on image. I love that these shirts offer a unique image of automobiles and airplanes. Luke loves his firetruck shirt and has worn it several times. It has become a regular in his shirt selection!

Here he is showing off his firetruck shirt!

And if the cute T-Shirts aren't enough they also have some free printable coloring pages too!

Click HERE for the coloring pages and click HERE to browse their shirt selection!

I received the mentioned T-Shirt for review purposes only. No other compensation was received and these are my own honest opinions.

Children's Music and Scholastic DVD Prize Pack Review & Giveaway!!!

Winner: Comment #16 Amy V.!!!

Luke definitely has the love of music. He loves to listen to anything from hip hop to classical. He also loves to play music on a piano or the other day I overheard him say "1...2...3....yeah" and he started to play drums on the coffee table! I love it when I can find children's music for him to listen to!

We recently received Baby Loves Disco and Groove Kids Nation for review!

The Baby Loves Disco is a great CD for kids to listen to!

After 7 years as the rulers of the playground underground, Baby Loves Disco takes is award winning pre-school dance party out of the nightclubs and into boom boxes worldwide with the first official soundtrack to the internationally acclaimed children's event. 10 original songs created and crafted by legendary artist, producer and DJ
King Britt with an A-list of special-guests including Martin Luther, DJ Statik, Capital A, Lady Alma & The Baby Loves Disco Choir performing soon to be classics including 'At the Playground', the 'Ice Cream' song, 'Freeze Dance' and more. Don't be surprised if you catch Mom & Dad listening (and dancing) long after the kids have gone to bed.

The wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round as the Baby Loves Disco  Superhero Tour arrives in several more cities this spring and summer, courtesy of Loews Hotels. This year's tour celebrates everybody's inner superhero, and proves that moms, dads and kids of all sizes all have special powers worthy of superhero status. Twelve events have been scheduled so far at participating Loews locations across the country; for a complete list of events, visit http://www.babylovesdisco.com/events

The Groove Kids Nation The Wheels on the Bus features great renditions of classics like The Itsy Bitsy Spider and The Alphabet Song!

2011 release containing funky soul versions of classic children's songs that parents will love to hear over and over too! The CD introduces kids to real musical instruments played by some of the top professional musicians in L.A. Includes a 10-page illustrated booklet that features each of the characters from the songs playing their own instruments.

My Thoughts
Luke totally enjoyed these cd's. He has his own cd player and these are the two cd's that he likes to play in it. He loves the music and he dances around to it. He knows these are his cd's to play, which of course he loves having his own! I like that these aren't the traditional children's music that you are used to listening to. I like that these have a great beat and love the different renditions of classic songs, which makes it enjoyable for Mommy to listen with Luke!

Along with music, Luke also has a love for movies. He loves to watch the same movies over and over so anytime I get the chance to put in something new for him, I jump at that chance!

TIKKI TIKKI TEMBO (Writeen by Arlene Mosel, illustrated by Blair Lent) This Chinese folktale explains why great long names are no longer chosen for their children..

THE TALE OF THE MANDARIN DUCKS (Written by Katherine Paterson, illustrated by Leo & Diane Dillon, narrated by B. D. Wong) A compassionate couple risks their lives to reunite a pair of Mandarin ducks..

GRANDFATHER’S JOURNEY (Written and illustrated by Allen Say, narrated by B. D. Wong) A touching story about Grandfather’s travels from Japan to the United States and back again..

THE STONECUTTER (Written and illustrated by Gerald McDermott) Tasaku is a lowly stonecutter who longs for more power in this Japanese folk tale..

LON PO PO: A RED-RIDING HOOD STORY FROM CHINA (Written and illustrated by Ed Young, narrated by B. D. Wong) This Asian version of the classic fairytale brings lessons about strangers, trust, and courage..

SAM AND THE LUCKY MONEY (Written by Karen Chinn, illustrated by Cornelius Van Wright and Ying-Hwa Hu, narrated by Ming-Na Wen) On Chinese New Year Sam meets a stranger who helps him make the perfect decision on how to spend his lucky money.

These DVDs are all collected from the treasure trove of animated picture books produced by Weston Woods Studios. These carefully adapted stories feature handy Read Along functions for early readers and celebrity narration in many cases.

My Thoughts
After some coaxing, I was able to get Luke to take out Toy Story and put this DVD in. I think he was glad he did because this really seemed to hold his attention. I have found that he has added this DVD to his list of movies he likes to watch. He will ask for it to be put in. A great DVD to add to your collection and I'm excited to see the rest of the DVD's in the Scholastic Storybook Treasures series!

One of my readers will win all 3 of the products that I reviewed! That is a prize pack consisting of the Baby Loves Disco and Groove Kids Nation The Wheels on the Bus CD's and the Scholastic Storybook Treasures Tikki Tikki Tembo and more stories to celebrate Asian Heritage DVD!!

Mandatory Entry

Losing It Thursday!!!

Last Weeks Weigh In: 191.8

This Weeks Weigh In: 191.4

Well, I'm not even sure if you can call this a loss, but for the sake of looking at the brightside, I lost .4 pounds! This is better than a gain but I really wish I could just see a big loss. I've actually thought about not posting this anymore because I feel dumb posting the same weight every week, or even a gain. I really don't want to stop posting, just wish I had something good to post.

My cousin brought over my bridesmaid dress yesterday.....I look fat in it. I look like I'm about 3 feet wide. I so wish I could take like 20 pounds off in the three weeks. Especially in my arms and stomach. Arrgghhhh, but it's not my wedding so hopefully no one will be looking at me....and the bigger I look the better the bride will look I guess.

April Goal: 179

This Weeks Weight: 191.4

Pounds left to goal: 12.4

I think it's safe to say that I'm not making this goal this month. Maybe next. Do you think that stress could make your body hold on to weight? I've been so stressed out and honestly caring about myself is the last thing on my priority list. I think this is why I'm not having much luck. Well, that and the fact that it has been raining for like 2 weeks straight here. No kidding.

I'm linking this up with My Little Apricot!

My Thoughts:
I was so excited to try out Netflix. I love to watch movies but hate the hassle of going to the movie store to rent one and then worrying about returning it on time. I was also super excited about streaming movies through my Wii console.

It was easy to set up my Netflix account. In no time I was ready to start building my queue list. I had fun searching through all the titles that Netflix offers. They have a huge variety of movies to choose from, everything from new releases to oldies but goodies to kids movies! They also have t.v. shows that you can watch as well!

One thing that I really liked was that I could rearrange the titles in my queue. Your movies will come to you in the order that they are in your queue. After adding the movies I wanted to see, I went back in and rearranged them so that we would get a mixture of adult movies and kids movies for Luke at the same time. That way we are each getting something to watch all the time. They have an awesome selection of kids movies too, and after searching through the titles I found a ton of movies that Luke would love that he hasn't seen yet. Oldies but goodies like E.T. and one that I had never heard of before like Robots, which I think Luke will love!

If you decide that you changed your mind and don't want a movie on your queue you can always remove it. My friend and I were planning a movie night and we had certain movies we wanted to watch. I simply added them to my queue and moved them to the top of the list!

It takes no time at all to receive your movies in the mail. And it only takes a day or two once you mail them back to get the next one on your list! You can mail them back one by one and receive one movie back or you can mail them all back at the same time and receive 3 movies back! Loved the fast shipping and returning them is super simple because you can use the same envelope that they came in!

Streaming Netflix Instantly
Streaming movies through your game system is easy! I have the Wii and it was simple and quick to set it up. To watch a movie through the Wii all I have to do is browse through the selection and press play to watch instantly. I wish there were newer movies to stream. This is the only complaint that I had was that the movies that were available to stream seemed to be older but there are a lot of children's movies to stream which is great for Luke! There is also a huge variety of t.v. shows to stream which is great to catch up on shows that you haven't watched in a while!

Overall I think Netflix is definitely a great alternative to running to the movie store. It's great for me because I don't have to waste time going to rent movies, they are delivered right to my door. Wether you are an avid movie watcher or just like a relaxing movie night, then Netflix is definitely for you!

Netflix also has a plan for everyone ranging from $4.99 to $27.99/month and click HERE to check out the free trial!

Wordless Wednesday!!!

*Sigh* Electronics.

We went to visit my nieces the other day and it wasn't but two minutes after we got there and this is what we saw on the couch.

Luke is playing his Mobigo and the girls are texting. Luke is so smart when it comes to electronics. They have Ipods and Luke can play them. I'm not talking about just pushing buttons either. He can actually scroll through the games and find the ones he wants to play and play them. My neice showed him her password one time....and he remembered! I can't decide if I think he is going to be a computer programmer or a doctor :)

Calgon Take Me Away!

I am having two bad days that are seeming more like one long bad day. You ever have those days? Like where you just can't catch a break. Ugghhhh. I need to go home, go back to sleep and wake up again.

I'm ready to go home and play with my son...I'm missing him today.

I know I usually post some giveaways on Tuesday's but today I'm just not feeling it so I'm putting it off until possibly tomorrow.

Hopefully, this day will get better....I'm trying to look on the bright side of things.

Mommyhood Monday!!!

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter!

Luke had a great one! He had to spend the actual holiday with his dad, but Mommy put a call into the Easter Bunny and he came to our house a day early! (This was the first holiday that I've had to spend without Luke, I missed him very much but kept myself super busy)

Luke loved his Easter basket! The first thing he saw was the Pez, then he spotted the Funguns and wanted those opened right away! Then with a mouthful of Funguns he asked for me to open his Pez....too cute!

Luke got a Mr. Potato Head, which he has named "Tata Head" and the Toy Story game for Mobigo. He played that Mobigo forever! He loved his "Tata Head" and with his vivid imagination..."Tata Head" has became a new close friend. He also got some sidewalk chalk too, but it has been raining for 3216513547 days straight it seems like (really actually more like.....7 or 8) so we haven't gotten to use it yet. He did however use it on his Easter bucket, which turned out great and looks very cute in his bedroom!

I'll have pictures to post later on this week!
So, how did your Easter holiday turn out?

Friday Favorites!!!

I hope everyone has had a great week! I'm actually off work today and am spending time with my little Luke right as we speak (isn't scheduling posts great??)
We are having our Easter dinner today with my family!

I found a couple really cute crafts this week!

First I want to show THESE Yarn Eggs from Ordinary Miracles of Life!

I know it is super close to Easter, but these would be a quick decoration to make or file it away for next year...which is what I'm doing! Love how she hung these up!

Next check out THIS Car Mat from A Girl and a Glue Gun!

I love all the little details in this mat! Luke would have a ball playing with this! And, she used hot glue to make this! No sewing required!

And last but not least check out THIS Faux Embroidery from Helping Little Hands!

This post actually inspired me so much that I purchased two patterns from the shop where she bought this pattern! One is going to be for my mom for mother's day! She makes this look so easy! You must check this out and check out all the cute patterns you can get from Twin Stitchers! Very cute and personalized! Perfect!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter and a great weekend! Spend time with your family and cherish every minute of it!!

Losing It Thursday!!!

Last Weeks Weigh In: 191.2

This Weeks Weigh In: 191.8

So I gained again. I'm going to take my measurements to see if there is any change there. I honestly don't think I'm doing that bad. I did buy the Zumba for the Wii and it is pretty fun! The moves are a little hard to catch on to but I love the music, and Luke has been playing it too and I find myself dancing around while I'm doing dishes and things because I like the music. I really need to start writing down my calories and keeping a better handle on that. I will tell you that one day, yes one day after my weigh in last week, I weighed myself again and it was down to 187! And now it is back up. It has to be water weight and I'm not sure what to do to combat that....unless I start drinking a lot more water than I am.

I'm not going to make my goal this month either.

April Goal: 179
This Weeks Weight: 191.8
Pounds left to goal: 12.8

Searching for Cute Boy Clothes...Arrrghhh!!!

Anyone who is a mother to a boy knows the aggravation of finding cute clothes for them to wear. When Luke was an infant I found all sorts of cute outfits for him everywhere. Now that he is getting older, not so much.

I live in a small town. Our clothing store choices are Family Dollar and Dollar General....seriously. Now, I can shop other places, if I want to drive 30 miles to get somewhere.

Anyway, I had a buy one get one 50% off coupon for the Family Dollar kids clothing brand Kidgets. I decided that I would get Luke a couple summer outfits, which I knew he needed. As I'm looking at the clothes, I find a really cute outfit, 3 piece!!! Of course, unless I can squeeze Luke's 36 pound cuteness into a 24 month size....it wasn't happening.

So, I take a look, hmmmm nothing on this huge rack will fit Luke. I start looking for the toddler section.....are you kidding me??? You know those circle racks? Well, half of one of those was the toddler boys section, which consisted of about 4 different outfits to choose from. Two of those outfits had squiglly swirly designs on them, and an evil looking snake....ummmm no. The other two, which are the two I ended up buying was a camo outfit with a helicopter and a plaid shirt with a t-shirt and tan shorts.
This is one of the outfits that I got Luke, only in blue and yellow.

They are ok, but not what I'd call super cute. I guess I can't complain because I got them for $12, but my goodness, can't they offer something cuter than that?

I even looked for clothes my size, and of course because their clothes are sized so small I had to look in the plus sized section...and they were all ugly.

Why do boys clothes all have to look the same? I don't want scary snakes, skeletons, squiglies, or really even sports on them. How about some trucks, cars, dogs, stuff like that? Not everyone likes baseball, football or basketball.

I will say that I have found some really cute boy clothes online. The Boy Store is a great place to find cute clothes!
I bought this shirt for Luke from The Boy Store, couldn't pass it up!

And I went to Elder Beerman a few months ago and searched their clearance racks and got Luke two really cute winter shirts, both for less than $3! It's just that, why can't they have cute clothes here in town??? Accessible and affordable???

And don't get me started on underwear sizing!

The Best Peanut Butter Eggs You'll Ever Eat!!!

This year for Easter my mom and I decided we would make each of the kids in the family a peanut butter egg. These were fun to make and everyone has loved them.....and they taste oh so good!

My mom used a big plastic egg that came apart longways for the mold. She used half the egg and pushed the peanut butter into the mold. After that she dipped them in the chocolate with a big spatula and used a spoon to cover them completely!

I used Wilton icing colors to dye our icing. These are so much better than food coloring! We added powdered sugar to store bought icing so it would harden. I used the round tip to put a grassy area on each egg

I  used the star tip to put two little yellow flowers on each grassy patch and then we used mini m&m's for the middle

For the edging, I put yellow icing up one side of my icing bag, green up the other side and white in the middle, and used a star tip! And then we used a toothpick to add a peep to our grassy patch and then added a big malted milk egg too!

We put two eggs on some of the extra ones because we ran out of peeps

We used store bought, already dyed icing in a tube to write the names on each of them. This hardened when it dried as well.

This is the yummy goodness in the middle!

We cut and covered card board with aluminum foil and then used the easter grass as a bed to and put our eggs on top!

We used easter wrap to wrap them up and they were ready to give out!

And where was Luke while we were doing all this???

Taking a nap!!!

We had a couple extra so I took them in to Luke's daycare teachers. Everyone has loved these! They are sooo tasty!!

Here is the recipe:

Makes 8 LARGE eggs!

2 lbs. peanut butter
1 lb. butter
3 tsps. vanilla
2 1/2 lbs. powdered sugar
1 bar parafine
1-24oz bag chocolate chips

Mix first 4 ingredients. Press peanut butter mixture into egg mold. Remove and place on waxed paper and refridgerate.
In a double boiler, melt 1 bar of parafine. Add 24oz. of chocolate chips and melt until lumps are gone.
Dip eggs into chocolate mixture until coated. My mom used a big spatula to rest the egg on and lower it into the chocolate.
Refridgerate until chocolate hardens. These can be made ahead of time!
