Mommyhood Monday!!!

Well, today is a very special Mommyhood Monday....

because it's this mommy's birthday!!!!

I'm 29 on the 29th!!!!

That only happens once in a lifetime so this has to be my year!!

On the potty training side, Luke sat on the potty without his diaper for about a second and he said potty so we're taking baby steps!!! 

I left him over night for the first time on Saturday, so that I could and celebrate my birthday...I survived!!!

Luke did alright, but he didn't sleep well at my parents house so he was SUPER grumpy on Sunday. I had a good time and much needed unwinding. I felt bad for leaving him, but, like I said, I survived.

Mommyhood Monday!!!

What is your favorite time of day?

I have a couple.

I love first thing in the morning, when Luke wakes up and I go into his room to get him out of his crib.

He is all smiles and cuddly, I love it.

It's the perfect start to my day!! 

I also love when I come home from work and he gets so excited to see me. I love that too!!

You know, if it weren't for Luke, I don't know what I would do. He is my whole life and my whole heart. I love being his mommy and I love looking forward to every new day that is ahead of us. If God only gives me one miracle in life, I'm glad he chose Luke.

Although I do love your tweets and songs and you are beautiful to watch......

could you please stop pooping on my car?

The neighbors are the ones that feed you, could you please poop on their cars?

I washed my car yesterday because it was covered in poop and this morning when I was leaving for work....it was covered again. 

If you don't stop pooping on my car, I'm afraid I will have to start charging you a fee to use my car as a bathroom as it is costing me an arm and a leg to keep it clean. 

Also, my feelings would not be hurt at all if you and your family moved from your current home (on the under side of my roof) and found more suitable housing. 

And while I'm at it, I am tired of finding your poop on my back deck also.

Mommyhood Monday!!!

Happy (or not so happy, if your back at work) Monday!!

The appropriate title for this post would be "Adventures in Potty Training"!!

WARNING!!! This post is about using the potty and does contain some potty language, please be advised!!

Yes, I think it is just about time to start potty training Luke.

If anyone has any advice for me on this matter, please leave me a comment. 

I guess I don't even really know where to start. I bought a cute little potty seat that goes right over the big toilet, it's Sesame Street, Luke loved it in Walmart, he held it in the cart, but now that it's home, he doesn't want to sit on it. 

The fact is that his daycare has been pressuring wanting me to start potty training since he was 18 months old. They would say "if you send in Pull Ups we'll start working with him" and they sent home a potty training dvd. I didn't feel that he was ready yet, but, I'm thinking now would be the right time to start getting him used to the idea. I guess I better watch the dvd, huh?

Things he has started doing in the last couple months:

If you ask him if he pooped he will say poop and point to his diaper (he will do this even when there is no poop too)

He will say "eewww, eewww" when you change his diaper

He will take his own pants off if you unbutton them and pull them down

He tries to take his diaper off himself before bath time

So these are the reasons that I think he is getting ready to start potty training and why I am using this Mommyhood Monday to seek advice? Do you think he sounds ready? How did you start? Any tips? Did you read a book about it? Anything you may have to say about this subject, just chime on in, I want to hear it all!!! I'm a first time mom and have no experience in these things, which is why I sound desperate (lol!!)

And because it's Monday and I really don't like it, I thought I'd share a cute picture that always makes me smile

Friday Favorites!!!

Hi!!!! Can I tell you how nice it has been here this week??

It has been in the 60's!! Luke and I went for a walk the other day and as soon as he saw that stroller come out of the closet he kept saying "sit down, sit down"

He was so excited to get out he just kept talking and talking (toddler language) and he pointed out the trucks and the birds!! It was so nice to get out and get some fresh air and sunshine!!! We have a dance birthday party to go to tomorrow for my nieces which should be alot of fun too!!! 

So now on to the good stuff!!! I really try not to sound like a spokesperson here but it's hard so bear with me, ok?

Mommyhood Monday!!!

Cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow..................for babies grow up we've learned to our sorrow...........So quiet down cobwebs...............dust go to sleep...................I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep!

I just love this saying. It's hard to put aside all those things that we "have" to do, so that we can do what we want to do, but sometimes, you just have to.

I struggle with this alot. Being a working mom, it's hard to leave my son and go to work and although I work outside the home, I still have the normal work to do AT home too.  I try to spend as much time with Luke as I can. I know when I come home from work, as soon as I open the door (if he's up from his nap) he wants me to hold him and sit with him. But, it's like in the back of my mind I'm thinking "o.k. I need to get dinner started" and then it's dishes and then whatever else needs to be done. I hate that I constantly feel like I have to go, go, go to get everything done and then I miss out on playing with Luke.  When Luke is grown, it won't be the clean house or the finished laundry that he remembers, it will be the quality time that we have spent together. You should see the look on this boys face when we sit down to play with him...it is priceless. He doesn't care what we do, he just likes it when we sit on the floor with him. That's enough for him. He has even started telling me "sit down" like Saturday morning I was cleaning the house and Luke said "sit down" to me.

I guess I have enough regrets in my life, I don't want this to become one also. It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day things that we forget to stop and enjoy life itself. This is one of my goals...and, it doesn't have to be something super special....I am just going to try to be more in the moment with Luke, at bathtime, reading a book, dinner time or just playing....just be present and in that moment and not plotting the next thing on my to do list.

Photo Suncatcher For Your Car

I wanted to share my latest project...

A suncatcher for my car!!!!

Want to make one yourself???

Supplies:

Transparency Paper (non-adhesive)

Jump rings

Ball chain

First I resized my photo's to 1 1/2 inches then printed them out on my transparency paper

Here is the paper I used and what the pictures looked like printed out

 

I cut each picture out to be the same size, figure out which picture you want to use for the top and leave some extra paper at top of that picture

Use a thumbtack and poke holes in the pictures where the jump rings will go

Use the jump rings to attach each picture together

For the top, use a craft knife to cut a whole for the ball chain

Run the ball chain through the hole, put it around your rear view mirror and cut to size

And that's it!!!!! What do you think??
